Ghost of Yotei: How to use the grappling hook?

The grappling hook is one of Atsu's main tools as she journeys through Ezo in Ghost of Yotei. She has it from the very beginning of the game. The grappling hook has several uses, each of which is only available during exploration and can only be used in specific spots. How does the grappling hook work?

The grappling hook has three different uses. It cannot be used in combat, it is an exploration-exclusive tool. Furthermore, you cannot freely pull yourself towards every surface. The grappling hook can only be used on specific hooks, which are always marked with a red and white ribbon. Additionally, the grappling hook cannot be used on the ground - you must jump or fall to use it. The grappling hook is assigned to the R2 button, which must be held.

The two most common uses for the grappling hook are swinging on branches and pulling yourself towards them. The first use allows you to cross chasms by swinging on the rope attached to it. The second allows you to climb walls.

Occasionally you will also be able to use the grappling hook to destroy a weakened wall. In this case, you need to find the hook marked with a ribbon and throw the grappling hook at it, hold R2 and L2, and then keep holding the left stick down until the wall collapses.
