Ghost of Yotei: All bamboo strikes

Visiting locations with bamboo strikes in Ghost of Yotei can be worth your time and help the main character increase her Spirit level. How to complete the mini-game, and what are the rewards for the Bamboo Strikes?

1. On the Ezo Island, you can find a total of 15 bamboo strikes - 13 of them are discovered through free exploration, the remaining 2 are linked to main quests (after completing them, their icons will not be visible on the map of Ezo).
2. Each bamboo strike is a mini-game involving quick button pressing. You must always enter the sequence before Atsu swings her katana. If you fail, you can try again - the button combination will remain the same. Some sequences are more difficult and are intended to symbolize, for example, swinging the weapon while holding it with one hand. In these cases, you must press buttons on the D-pad, which may require more attempts. You can also try holding the controller differently, as only the left side of the controller will be used.
3. The rewards for completing these activities include permanently extending the Spirit bar (primarily used for unique attacks and health regeneration) and partial automatic Spirit restoration. We recommend discovering the first few bamboo strikes as soon as possible, as Atsu has little Spirit available by default.

#1 Father's Bamboo Strike

Region: Yotei Grasslands

This stand is located in Atsu's destroyed house and can be reached immediately after unlocking the world map. The heroine can rebuild the destroyed stand (in the present) and then immediately complete the activity.

#2 Nupur River Bamboo Strike

Region: Yotei Grasslands

This stand is hidden in the forest in the northern part of the region, and on the way there you need to cut down several smaller bamboo trees. Before starting the mini-game, you also need to talk to one of the Ainu.

#3 Yotei River Bamboo Strike

Region: Yotei Grasslands

Reach the northwestern part of the region, specifically the hill adjacent to the forest of white trees.

#4 Hanbei's Bamboo Strike

Region: Mount Yotei

This is a unique case, as completing the mini-game is part of the training. Master Hanbei lives on the slope of Mount Yotei. Visit him to unlock dual katanas as a new melee weapon. It is located to the west of the Yotei Grasslands region and is accessible via the Mountain Trail.

#5 Huranui Bamboo Strike

Region: Tokachi Range

You need to reach the Huranui Inn, and one of the activities available here is the bamboo strike (you can also choose this location as a fast travel destination).

#6 Niikappu's Fork Bamboo Strike

Region: Tokachi Range

You'll find it in the eastern part of the region, northwest of the swamps. Before using the stand, you may need to kill the bears roaming the area (it's safest to hit them with headshots - use the Yumi Bow).

#7 Misty Valley Bamboo Strike

Region: Tokachi Range

This stand is related to searching for Spider Lily Armor, which is located in the Tominaga Estate. Atsu must solve the puzzle, which is described on the How to get through the maze page. Only then will the activity be unlocked.

#8 Matsumae Encampment Bamboo Strike

Region: Ishikari Plain

It is part of the main story. During the first visit to the camp, Atsu can speak with one of the Matsumae leaders and accept his challenge. You must complete a more difficult variant of the mini-game, and the reward for completing it will be the unique Helmet - Clan Matsumae Helmet (a cosmetic item).

#9 Urara Bamboo Strike

Region: Ishikari Plain

You can find the stand at the eastern end of the region, in front of the smaller Oni Inn.

#10 Rumoi Bamboo Strike

Region: Ishikari Plain

This activity can be found in the northern end of the region, next to the Rumoi River that flows through the area. Access to the stand may be guarded by one of the ronin - you can give him 200 coins or (a better option) defeat him in combat.

#11 Sakuru Bamboo Strike

Region: Teshio Ridge

The stand is located north of the Sakuru Woods and east of one of the gambling dens. This is the eastern part of the region.

#12 Hakodake Bamboo Strike

Region: Teshio Ridge

Reach the viewpoint east of the Hakodake Mountains. This is the eastern end of the region.

#13 Sarobetsu Bamboo Strike

Region: Teshio Ridge

The stand can be found in a small area northeast of the frozen Sarobetsu Lake.

#14 Atago Bamboo Strike

Region: Oshima Coast

You can find it among the pink trees in the northern part of the region, west of Miyama Village.

#15 Matsuame Bamboo Strike

Region: Oshima Coast

It's southwest of Matsumae Castle, near one of the observation towers. Atsu may be forced to complete a more difficult variant of the mini-game.
