Ghost of Yotei: How to unlock the passage in Oshima Coast Watchtower?

The closed passage in the Oshima Coast Watchtower is one of the obstacles you may encounter in the first few hours of Ghost of Yotei. This guide explains the blocked path to the next region, showing you how to handle the guards and start your journey to Oshima Coast.

Where is the Oshima Coast Watchtower?

1. The Oshima Coast Watchtower is at the western edge of the first region, the Yotei Grasslands - as pictured above.
2. Atsu will be stopped by a Matsumae soldier, who sees her as an unwelcome mercenary and won’t open the gate. You can't bribe or attack him. Don’t bother searching for another way to Oshima Coast in the area - you won’t find one.

Return to the watchtower and journey to the Oshima Coast

1. Oshima Coast is locked away on purpose- it’s the last region you visit in the main story. You’ll need to explore the other regions on the world map first: Yotei Grasslands, Tokachi Range, Ishikari Plain, Nayoro Wilderness, and Teshio Ridge.
2. After defeating three of the Yotei Six members in the main story, you move on to Chapter 2, and Atsu returns home to the Yotei Grasslands. Together with your ally Oyuki, you'll head to the Oshima Coast. When you reach the outpost, you’ll find it has been attacked and is unguarded.
3. Opening the outpost's gate will begin a quest involving a long journey to the coast. Along the way you'll face many battles and unlock your first firearm.

1. Eventually, you’ll reach the coast and start exploring at the Oshima Coast Entrance, where you can now freely roam the game’s final, sixth region.
2. Once Oshima Coast is unlocked, you can also revisit the previous regions. You can use fast travel or head to the northern gate, which leads back to the Yotei Grasslands.
