Ghost of Yotei: Is there a point of no return and endgame?

Towards the end of the main story in Ghost of Yotei you will reach a point of no return. Our guide explains how the free travel block works. You’ll find out whether it’s permanent and how the endgame works, which unlocks after completing the main story.

When is the point of no return in the main story?

1. Ghost of Yotei has a point of no return, which you’ll encounter in Chapter 3, after returning from Oshima Coast to Atsu's home.
2. It appears right before the quest to head to Koga Fortress, the game’s final location. Atsu can’t reach it by herself while exploring. Instead, you need to go to the Central Ferry at the northern edge of the Tokachi Range.

1. When you reach the boat dock, you’ll meet a new ally and be warned about the point of no return. We strongly recommend saving manually beforehand, just in case you’re not fully prepared for the finale - if you're missing armor, weapons, sake, arrows or other supplies.
2. Once you set off on the boat, you can no longer explore the map freely. The open world only becomes accessible again after defeating the final boss.

Can you continue playing after the story?

1. The good news is: starting the finale doesn’t permanently lock the open world. After finishing the main story, the epilogue and watching the credits, you’ll be returned to the point just before the finale.
2. During the endgame, you can tackle any optional activities you missed earlier - side quests, bounty hunter missions, optional bosses (like Takezo), extra challenges, and hunting for secrets and collectibles. All of the game's content remains accessible and you cannot miss out on 100% completion.
