Ghost of Yotei: All Puzzle boxes
Puzzle boxes are unique collectibles from the Teshio Mountain region of the Ghost of Yotei game. In our guide is a list of all 12 secret boxes. We have also created a list of unique rewards hidden in the boxes of the Nine Tails.
The puzzle boxes left by the Nine Tails are considered secret items that can be found in Ghost of Yotei. The list on this page shows the locations of all 12 puzzle boxes, and opening them will reward you with the Trickster Fox trophy. In addition, we have prepared a list of unique gear that can be obtained from puzzle boxes.

Trickster Fox trophy
The Trickster Fox trophy is related to puzzle boxes, and getting it is required to unlock the platinum trophy on PS5. This trophy is awarded for finding and opening all puzzle boxes - their complete list can be found below.
List of puzzle boxes and claiming rewards
Puzzle boxes are collectibles that appear exclusively in the Teshio Ridge region, which is the northernmost area where Atsu is trying to fight the Nine Tails group while simultaneously trying to catch Kitsune. You can find puzzle boxes while taking over enemy locations or do that later (even after finishing the storyline).
The collected puzzle boxes can be examined immediately or saved for later - you will find them in the Inventory tab under the Key Items submenu. Each puzzle box is associated with a small puzzle - you must slide the interactive panels to unlock the lid, open the puzzle box, and collect the item stored inside. If you get stuck, try moving the pieces in a different order or hovering over the walls and searching for the next moving parts. You can also reset the puzzle by closing the window with the view of the puzzle box.
Puzzle boxes may contain coins, treasure maps, or crafting materials. There are also three unique collectibles to be acquired:
- Charm of the Wary Opponent - It can help you when sneaking by pressing L2 to quickly turn towards the opponent who has noticed Atsu. This will allow you to quickly take them out before the alarm is raised.
- Charm of Drunken Adversary - There is a chance to obtain sake for each enemy defeated during a standoff.
- War Cry Mask - This is a cosmetic item that is obtained by opening the final twelfth puzzle box.

- Peculiar Box;
- Fascinating Box;
- Curious Box;
- Intricate Box;
- Manageable Box;
- Perplexing Box;
- Devious Box;
- Challenging Box;
- Surprising Box;
- Elaborate Box;
- Epic Box.
The puzzle boxes are named in the order they are found. So, the first one will always be Interesting Box, and the last one will always be Epic Box.
#1 Soya Port
Take control of the Port Soya location in the northeastern part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#2 Camp Inari Hideout
Take control of the enemy location Camp Inari Hideout in the northern part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#3 Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout
Take control of the enemy location Nakajima Ice Cave Hideout in the northwest part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#4 Kitsune Altar
Visit the Kitsune Altar at the crossroads in the western part of the region, south of Lake Sarobetsu. The puzzle box lies on the altar.
#5 Snow's Blight Hideout
Take control of the enemy location Snow's Blight Hideout in the northwest part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#6 Kitsune Altar
Visit the Kitsune Altar at the western cliff, south of the Snow's Blight Hideout. The puzzle box lies on the altar.
#7 Snow Drift Springs Hideout
Take control of the enemy location Snow Drift Springs Hideout in the southwest part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#8 Deserted Village
Take control of the enemy location Deserted Village in the central part of the region, east of Lake Sarobetsu. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#9 Crossroads Trading Post
Take control of the enemy location Crossroads Trading Post in the southern part of the region. The puzzle box is in front of the Altar of Reflection.
#10 Sakuru Woods
Find 2 hostile ronin in the Sakuru Woods in the southeast part of the region. Kill them and find the puzzle box next to the bodies.
#11 Kitsune Altar
Visit the Kitsune Altar southeast of the Sentinel Forest Camp in the eastern part of the region. The puzzle box lies on the altar.
#12 Kitsune Altar
Visit the Kitsune Altar south of Soya Port, in the northeastern part of the region. The puzzle box lies on the altar.
