Like its predecessors, Ace Combat 7 is set in alternative timeline, in which there are different countries, and humans have constructed unique flying units. Game focuses on the story, which we learn both through events during missions and many cutscenes. The gameplay is mostly arcade, with only a few simulation’s features. Due to that, realism has to move over and make space for dynamic and eye-catching sky fights, including battles with powerful bosses. Each available plane flies slightly differently, resulting in a more varied experience. Ace Combat 7 offers a story campaign for one player and multiplayer mode. Developers made use of Unreal Engine 4 and also added support of PlayStation VR goggles.

The action takes place a few months after the events of the game’s first part, when after a moment of calmness, a deadly zombie epidemic once again plagues Raccoon City. The player follows the story of a rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and a young girl – Claire Redfield – who arrived in the city in search of her brother. Early into the story, the two protagonists are separated and from there on the action is seen from two different points of view, and the characters’ stories develop slightly differently.

AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected was inspired by the Japanese children cartoons, both in terms of visuals and atmosphere. The game takes us to a world where modern technology and fantastic beings collide. We play as a brave young boy who goes on various dangerous adventures during which he, along with his friends, fights with enemies. As we play, we explore the game’s world, beat the game’s platform elements, collect items, and fight with enemies. We can recruit every character we meet, including our opponents. It requires us to convince them to do so, so we will have to be really thoughtful and creative when talking with them. AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected features quite unusual but still good looking visuals. The game’s colorful world is in 3D, but all characters are 2D sprites.

A standalone expansion to a well-received online FPS developed by BlackMill Games. Like in the base game, the action of Tannenberg takes the players to the World War I. However, this time around one gets to travel to the less known eastern front of the Great War and participate in the historical battles between the Russian Empire and the forces of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Apart from introducing a new faction, the biggest asset of this expansion in the entirely new theater of operations, which differs significantly from the battles that took place in the region surrounding Verdun that one might remember from the base game. Instead of trench warfare, the player gets thrown into more dynamic battles, taking place in large, open areas - in the woods and snow-capped plains - which significantly alters the nature of the gameplay. Other aspects of gameplay remain unchanged, so the level of realism and brutality, the character development mechanic, and the system of acquiring new pieces of gear remain the same. The game delivers a new mode, in which up to 64 players divided into two teams can fight each other on one map.

The player has a wide variety of cutting-edge weapons and parts of equipment at their disposal, though in terms of the mechanics, the game follows the successful patterns of the predeceasing titles. As usual, the story campaign is an open-world experience here and it can be played in the co-op mode as well.

Metro Exodus is the third installment of the popular FPS series based on the books by Dmitry Glukhovsky and developed by 4A Games. Once again we play as Artyom who ventures through what remains of Russia after a nuclear war that took place twenty years before the action of the game. Metro Exodus is kind of an evolution of what we saw in the series' previous installments. As usual, we explore the game's rich world (this time, along with the tunnels, also the world’s surface), fight with the encountered enemies, and try to be as stealthy as possible. Stealth plays an important role in the game because we will encounter not only well-armed human survivors, but also mutants. Defeating a smaller one may not be that hard, but the more powerful mutants can be rather difficult to kill. As usual, the latest installment of the Metro series features visuals of the highest quality.

An independent beat'em up game, which casts the player in the role of a mad gorilla that is trying to escape from captivity. The player's task is to complete subsequent, procedurally-generated corridors, as well as to deal with hordes of enemies, both soldiers and guards. The game is played from a top-down view and the only thing the protagonist can rely on is the power of his own muscles. With his hands, the gorilla crushes the enemies, but can also grab and throw them. Certain elements of the environment can also be taken advantage of, such as doors that have been torn out - they can be used as a shield. The experience is complemented by a dynamic soundtrack, which changes its tone in accordance with what is currently happening on the screen. The developer decided to include a large portion of brutality in the game, as the enemies defeated leave lots of blood, staining the locations the player traverses. Ape Out delivers exclusively a single-player experience and is available only in digital distribution.

Another installment in the action-adventure game series about two strange aliens – ToeJam and Big Earl. During their interstellar journeys, their ship crash-lands on a nearby planet, which turns out to be Earth. The heroes and their friends (on some rare occasions you will also control Peabo and Lewanda) need to find replacement parts for their vessel in order to go home. Similarly to the first part of the game, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove presents the action from the isometric point of view. The mechanics consists of free exploration, fighting ridiculous enemies, and playing funny minigames. During the game, the heroes come across mysterious presents which can either help or harm – the only way to find out is to open them. Co-op is surely an asset – each adventure can be played solo or with up to three other players. All of this is complemented by great visuals – the world and the characters seem like they were cut out from paper, and the depth is intensified by the 3D perspective. The pleasurable soundtrack is inspired by music trends of the 90s.

An action survival game developed by a Square Enix subsidiary – the development team consisted of such industry veterans as Yoji Shinkawa (the Metal Gear Solid franshise), Toshifumi Nabeshima (the Armored Core series) and Takayuki Yanase (Xenoblade Chronicles X). This game is set in the universe created for the Front Mission series. The players assume the role of three heroes trapped in a war-torn Russian city. Left Alive presents the events in the third-person perspective. As you complete consecutive missions you must fulfill diverse, non-linear objectives. An essential part of gameplay is combat – on the battlefield you get to use both firearms and self-made traps, as well as other deadly gadgets against your enemies. Alternatively, you are free to put down your guns and use a stealthy approach. Apart from enemy infantry, from time to time you must fight the so-called Wanzers, i.e. powerful mechs, iconic for the Front Mission series – interestingly, there are several occasions in the game, in which you can control one of those and strike fear in your opponents’ hearts. Other strengths of the game are high quality of graphics and atmospheric soundtrack.
